Game Reviews :The God of War
I just completed God of War II, and I
thought that I should write a review about the first part before letting you
know about the second.
God of War is an action-adventure based role-playing
game set in Ancient Greece. It was released in 2005, and is available for PS2
users. Created by David Jaffe and released by Sony computer entertainment, this
game has been hugely successful and has made to the Playstation Platinum, a
group of games that have likewise become popular.
Meet Kratos, a six foot tall Spartan general turned
bloodthirsty warrior who teeters on the very edge of lunacy. Tricked into
murdering his own family, his soul is beyond redemption. In one last attempt to
free himself of his sins, Kratos must defeat Ares, the God of War.

In my opinion, this game is worth the money. Set in
Ancient Greece, it makes you realize how lame fights in action movies are.
Watch Kratos rip hordes of monsters apart with his bare hands. Speaking of
which, Kratos encounters many famous beasts including Medusa, Cyclops, Minotaurs
and hydras as the story unfolds. We get to use complicated magic powers
bestowed by the gods like Zeus’s Bolt, Poseidon’s Rage, Army of Hades, etc to
beat powerful foes.

God of War is not simply a hack ‘n’ slash game, but
is also filled with intricate puzzles which you must solve to advance in the
game. and believe me, these puzzles are not easy, you might have to sit there
for DAYS to crack it and then find a solution so simple that you feel ashamed
of admitting you had a problem in the first place.
The gameplay and controls were awesome, can’t
complain about that. The game is filled with awesome quick-time events that you
just LOVE using while fighting enemies as tall as skyscrapers. After killing
them you can only stare in awe and get tempted to replay the game JUST so that
you could see Kratos in action again. Wow…talk about a showstopper.
The one thing that annoys me a lot is that there are
way too many balancing segments, you know, those parts where you walk across a
thin plank and try not to fall off. Those parts were pretty annoying.. and
there were way too many of them.
So, to conclude, God of War is an action packed,
hack ‘n’ slash game loosely based on Greek mythology. Out of 10, I would give it
a 9.
