HIPPO-CRISIS...I MEAN, HYPOCRISY

Humans. Of all possible traits they could ever express, hypocrisy had to be one of them. We are all hypocrites. I'm a hypocrite, you're a hypocrite, the teachers are hypocrites, were just too afraid to admit it. We are SO hypocritical that we accuse others of being hypocrites whereas we can’t see the hypocrisy that we ourselves exhibit in one way or the other.

Hey guys! I was originally going to make a small mention of this in my upcoming post “Types of People on the Internet”. But then I decided to make a separate post on this as

1.     I got a bit carried away with it and it was already long enough.
2.     My post started to look like a friggin’ train wreck. A train wreck with words, and douchebags.

So it’s a good train wreck then.

Ah, good to see you too, number 2, [Refer my post – Epic trailer] I think I might actually need your help on this one. Anyway, today I'm going to talk about something that happened months ago and caused a lot of controversy.

Kim Kardashian breaking the internet?

No, but even more controversy. I'm talking about....wait for it...the YULIN FESTIVAL!!

Uh no, bad call, bad call. Let’s talk about something a little less painful, like um....the Mindf**k theory?

No! That will be done in a later post. So get over it. We are going to jump into the flame of a thousand butthurt dog lovers. We must do it, because nobody else will. They will hunt us, because we can take it. We’re not the heroes this internet story deserves, but we make the unpopular opinions it needs. We’re silent guardians, watchful protectors. Dark knights.

Cue dramatic Christopher Nolan background music.

Now before my beloved viewers bring their sharpened pitchforks and axes, hear me out, okay?

For those of you who do not know what the festival is, let’s do a crash course, alright?
Chinese, I think
*Anti racist people attack*
...dog eating festival. Thousands of canines killed. Allegations of dogs being brutally killed. Tons of protests.
*Animal activists attack*

I hope you got it. Now here is my unpopular opinion- I think that these protests against the festival are collectively a clear sign of human hypocrisy and butt-hurtedness.

For those of you who supported the movement to shut the festival down, ask yourself this- Why did you support the movement? Is it because the animals were being killed brutally? If so, why can’t we say the same about chickens? We slit their throats and toss them in a bucket to be drained of blood! Worst part, they still kick around!

Oh yeah, nasty little buggers. Now tell me that isn’t brutal. Hanging goat carcasses outside a goat shop? Tell me that's fair.
It is not. The truth is that the only reason we protest is that we love dogs. They’re our favourite pets. They are lovable and very popular. We protest because our culture is different from the ones there. So because of it we protest. We choose to be blinded by our point of view that we refuse to look at theirs.

Not convinced? Let’s take another example.
Oh boy, not this again.
The government of India, which is under the influence of Hindutva outfits, have banned beef.

They're getting even more power hungry by banning porn, but that's not the point.

Hindus consider cows sacred and thus because of the RSS and other groups like it, beef has been banned. Most people condemned this ban, because they know it’s wrong. Don't you see? It’s the same thing, but with a different animal.

While most people condemned this ban, many supported it. Man the arguments in the comments section of comedy pages were so intense that it made “Goku vs. Superman” seem boring. Though the fight mostly involved some moron abusing people who criticized the government.

Anyway, I wouldn’t expect all of you to agree with me. We are all hypocrites, in one way or the other. Even I confess that I feel uncomfortable at the thought of eating dog meat, but I choose to look at it from the other person’s point of view. Like I said, I wouldn’t expect all of you to agree with me. But what I do wish is that you would at least try to do is that you should at least try to look at it from the other guy’s point of view.  If our planet must evolve, we must learn to respect all types of people, not just those who act like us. Didn’t the X men trilogy teach us something?

Yours in Demigodishness,

Unniposeidon.

  1. Damn that was long.... But I agree. They should ship stray dogs to Yulin. It'll solve two problems at once.
